Lo2 Song update

Update

As of 28th of April I have a semi final version of the song, the name of the song is now DOJO and will still feature 1Mawb. I believe that all I need to do is add some effects in the song and also obtain the guest verse from Ellis; Here is the mp3 of the product at the moment.




With this you can see how I have improved my skills as a rapper while also improving my engineering techniques and making my vocals sound Clear, crisp and, of good quality. I recorded all of my vocals at home on FL Studio and edited them on both FL and Logic, using the techniques I learnt earlier in production to EQ, Reverb and compress my vocals which makes them fit into the track. However, even with all of this I still believe that it can be improved upon. This is because many effects that are on FL and Logic are not of the same quality as ones you can buy separately. Even with this I still believe that I did a great job and am just waiting for Ellis vocals which I will edit in a similar way but differently in order to form a contrast between me and Ellis.

Shown above is the final version of Dojo which after a long wait was finally sent to me via gmail. I edited Ellis's vocals using the same software that I used to edit mine. However, I made some changes in order to make our verses sound different to each other.

UNIT 3 Evaluation (LO3 Be able to create production materials for an original media product to a client brief)

Above me is a video that I made talking about all the equipment I use to make music. It also goes into detail about how I use this equipment and the specifics of the song Dojo. Figuring out how to use these was challenging but familiar as they are similar to the ones that are on FL.  While I was writing the song (DOJO) I was constantly thinking about the codes and conventions of Hip-Hop music. While also thinking of ways to subvert these conventions and add themes and lyrics that are not normally featured in these songs. For example: My product can be analysed against the voyeurism and male gaze theory of representation by Laura Mulvey (1975). This is because lyrics that link to the male gaze theory are constantly repeated as to offer a familiarity for the audience (Steve Neale's, repetition and difference theory wrote in 1995) is also used to make the song similar to other products by using subject matter and language that the target audience already know.
