Lo4 Final product (DOJO/GAS)

Image
Shown above is the final version of Dojo which after a long wait was finally sent to me via gmail. I edited Ellis's vocals using the same software that I used to edit mine. However, I made some changes in order to make our verses sound different to each other.

Lo2 risk assessment

Image
This is my Risk assessment in which I take about all the potential risks that could effect the production of the song. This is needed in production as it helps the production team understand how to prevent these problems and create a safer working area.

The pictures shown are screenshots of the final version of the lyrics. These will be featured in the final song with Ellis when it eventually drops. When reading through it you will see that many of the lines are generic and talk about more women and pop culture. I have talked more about this in my LO3 evaluation and I go deeper into why I chose to use these lyrics and what they mean.  this is the main verse and as you can see the rhyme scheme is very simple and easy to follow. Which was used to make the song as catchy as possible and easy for the audience to understand.

Lo2 DOJO update 14th June

I am currently fixing my proposal and adding any information I need into my blog. I am still waiting for Ellis to finish his vocals as he has had no time (if he cannot supply me with this by the end of production I will use another verse that I have written and recorded.) However, for now I will wait for him as I do want to include him in the track. Other than that I am also completing my LO4 and I have tried changing things and experimenting with the song. Such as adding new audio clips and etc.. hoping to make the song a lot more memorable and unique.

Unit 3 evaluation (Lo4 you will need to detail how you used post-production techniques)

From the screenshots above, you can see that in post production I focused on making my voice sound cleaner via compression, reverb and delay. This was so that the lyrics could be layered over the beat and be incorporated into the mix so that they won't clash together. This also makes the vocals more loud and clearer for the audio listener, making the song more enjoyable.  Recording the lyrics using my Microphone and headset wasn't challenging as I have done it before, and after recording the main vocals of the track I began to record some adlibs. These are used to give an artists a personality and make the song catchy and potentially memorable (memeable). Examples of this would be the "Shatta" and "BULLET" adlibs that Russ uses. I believe the hardest part of this personally was uses the plugins and sfx to make my voice sound well mixed with the beat and other sounds that are in the mix. Both of these plugins are used to compact the vocals and to delete unwan...

UNIT 3 Evaluation (LO3 Be able to create production materials for an original media product to a client brief)

Above me is a video that I made talking about all the equipment I use to make music. It also goes into detail about how I use this equipment and the specifics of the song Dojo. Figuring out how to use these was challenging but familiar as they are similar to the ones that are on FL.  While I was writing the song (DOJO) I was constantly thinking about the codes and conventions of Hip-Hop music. While also thinking of ways to subvert these conventions and add themes and lyrics that are not normally featured in these songs. For example: My product can be analysed against the voyeurism and male gaze theory of representation by Laura Mulvey (1975). This is because lyrics that link to the male gaze theory are constantly repeated as to offer a familiarity for the audience (Steve Neale's, repetition and difference theory wrote in 1995) is also used to make the song similar to other products by using subject matter and language that the target audience already know. By using (Jason Mit...
